How To Request Materials

Requests can be made by using the ILLiad Interlibrary Loan System. Instructions on how to use ILLiad can be found here.

Each request must contain the complete citation.  Incomplete requests will be returned and will result in delays.

How Long Does It Take?

ILL requests are processed Monday-Friday and there is really no set time for how fast we can obtain materials. It could take anywhere from 1 day to 2 weeks depending on how fast the other libraries respond to our request and in what method they send the request. We will try our hardest to get the material to you in the fastest possible way.

How To Pick Up Requested Materials

When the requests are received by the library, the requester is notified by email. Books can be picked up at the circulation desk during all library hours and articles will be delivered electronically to your ILLiad account.

Books received through ILL must be returned at the Circulation Desk by the date indicated on the banner.

Renewals

Renewals are determined by the lending library and can only be made once. Please place your renewal requests through the ILLiad Interlibrary Loan System and please place the requests in advance of the book due date.

  1. Logon to the ILLiad Interlibrary Loan System at https://uindy.illiad.oclc.org/illiad/logon.html
  2. At the Main Menu page click on the "Checked Out Items" link on the left.
  3. You will receive a tabled list of your checked out items.
  4. Click on the transaction number in the first table column to pull up a detailed record of the request you want renewed.
  5. Click the red "Renew Request" button to place your request. If there is no red button, renewals are not available for the item.
  6. If your request goes through you will get a temporary due date. Once the lending library responds to the renewal request, we will send you an email with the new due date. You can also logon to your account in a couple of days to see the new due date.
  7. If the lending library denies the renewal request, we will send you an email asking you to return the book and we will reset the due date back to it's original date.

Overdues

ILL books must be returned to the Circulation Desk by the date marked on the band.  The overdue fine for ILL is $1.00 per day, with no limit. Any overdue fines or replacement costs levied by the lending library will be passed onto the borrower.
